This Teochew beef noodle (Gu Bak Koay Teow) started at Victoria street by Kang Chew Eam in the 1960s. The recipe was brought by his father to Penang from Swatow, China after World WarII. This Teochew Beef Noodle is still available at Swatow, China. Kang Chew Eam’s son, Kang Kheng Cheng, moved their business into Sri Weld Food Court on Beach Street, where it’s operated as the Kwang Beef Noodles stall and now 3rd generation great grandson Kang Chan Kwang is serving their famous Teochew Beef Noodle. ✅ You have 2 choices of noodles, Flat rice noodles or yellow string noodles - blanched together with beansprouts and dressed in garlic oil. Generous amounts of crisp-fried, golden-brown finely-chopped garlic and specially blended chili sauce is served with the noodles. ✅ The hearty beef broth contained beef balls and tenderly cooked sliced beef shin, beef tendon, and tripe.
